Despite rising deaths from bacterial infection, meat industry under little pressure to wean itself off antibiotics

The meat industry accounts for 73% of antibiotic use, leading to increased human deaths from antibacterial resistance. Regulations in richer countries, particularly Europe, curb animal antibiotic use, but increased protein consumption in low and middle income countries drives the surge.
